About Jono Cooper
Associate Attorney, Estate Planning and Probate Law
Jonathan "Jono" Cooper is an Associate Attorney who focuses on estate planning and probate matters, representing individuals and fiduciaries across Texas. After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Baylor Law School in 2022, Jono began his career at a boutique estate planning firm in Houston, working with clients ranging from ultra-high-net-worth individuals to everyday families establishing their first wills. He later expanded his practice to include representing and defending fiduciaries in litigation, giving him firsthand insight into the legal challenges that can arise during estate administration. Before joining Gravis Law, Jono helped establish a Private Wealth group in Texas at Greenberg Traurig, where he focused on cross-border planning for high-net-worth clients.
Jono believes that everyone deserves the peace of mind that comes from knowing their family and assets are protected, no matter what life brings. He takes pride in breaking down the complexities of estate law into language clients can understand, digest, and feel confident in, ensuring that their wishes are clearly memorialized. Whether guiding a family through their first estate plan or helping a fiduciary navigate a contested probate matter, Jono is committed to clear communication and making sure every client feels heard.
Among his career highlights, Jono successfully defended an independent executor in a will contest, helped a family from Mexico coordinate a cross-border estate plan compatible with their existing Mexican assets, and guided a dependent administrator through a complex intestate probate involving property located across the country. He is licensed to practice in Texas and is working toward Board Certification in Estate Planning and Probate, with hopes of one day serving in a leadership role within the Estate Planning Section at the local or state level.
Jono is an active member of the Austin Young Lawyers Association, the Austin Bar Association's Estate Planning and Probate Section, and the Real Estate, Probate & Trust Law Section of the State Bar of Texas. He also volunteers with the Austin Sunshine Camps and serves on committees for the Young Men's Business League of Austin.
Outside of the office, Jono has spent the past ten years as a rugby referee, officiating matches at every level, from youth and school rugby to professional Major League Rugby and international competitions. He also serves as a Central Representative for the Texas Rugby Referee Association and is part of the National Development Referee Group with USA Rugby. When he is not on the pitch, Jono enjoys reading, running, and exploring the outdoors with his wife and dogs.
