About Miguel Castillo

Senior Attorney, Family Law

Miguel Castillo is a Senior Attorney II with Gravis Law in Mustang Ridge, Texas, focusing exclusively on family law. With more than a decade of experience, Miguel represents individuals and families navigating divorce, child custody disputes, modifications, enforcement actions, and other complex family law matters. He brings an analytical, practical, and strategic approach to helping clients address some of life's most personal and challenging circumstances.

Miguel understands that family law matters involve much more than legal questions. They often affect a client's financial stability, relationships, and future with their children. He approaches each case by carefully evaluating the circumstances, identifying potential challenges, and developing strategies that reflect his client's goals while remaining mindful of the emotional and financial costs of prolonged disputes.

Since becoming licensed in Texas in 2014, Miguel has dedicated his legal career to family law. His experience includes divorce proceedings, contested custody matters, child support disputes, modifications of existing court orders, and enforcement actions. He also assists clients with adoption, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, and other issues involving family relationships.

Miguel believes effective representation requires both preparation and sound judgment. He approaches every case as though it may proceed to trial, ensuring that he understands the facts, relevant legal issues, and potential outcomes. At the same time, he recognizes that litigation is not always the best path forward and looks for reasonable opportunities to resolve disputes without unnecessary conflict or expense.

Clear communication is central to Miguel's approach to client service. He strives to help clients understand not only what steps are being taken in their cases, but why those steps matter. By providing straightforward assessments and explaining available options, he helps clients make informed decisions about their families and their futures.

Before beginning his legal career, Miguel served in the United States Marine Corps from 2002 to 2006. His military background helped shape the discipline, preparation, and commitment to responsibility that he brings to his legal practice.

Miguel earned his Bachelor of Business Administration, magna cum laude, from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. He later earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence, cum laude, from Thurgood Marshall School of Law in 2014. He is also affiliated with the Austin Family Law Bar Association.

As a husband and father of two young sons, Miguel brings an additional personal perspective to his family law practice. While his legal training provides the foundation for understanding custody and other family matters, becoming a father has deepened his appreciation for the concerns parents face when making decisions about their children.

For Miguel, successful representation is not simply about achieving a particular outcome in court. It is about helping clients understand their circumstances, protect what matters most, and move forward with greater confidence.
